The Cabanas invites you to enter a realm of natural simplicity. Our wellness practitioners are here to help you unplug from the stimulation of everyday life and surrender to the healing, slow pace of island life. You can visit the Zen Den at any time during your stay for a massage, reflexology, and other healing therapies. Then there is our beachfront climate-controlled Yoga Studio, which has group yoga lessons twice a day, along with meditation and pranayama. Guests are welcome to book private sessions anytime, also. On request, we can design a bespoke ‘wellness experience’ over the course of your stay. This is booked ahead of time to ensure the availability of our therapists and yoga practitioners.
Where Science Meets the Soul: The Wellness Roots of The Cabanas

Long before The Cabanas became a destination, it was a deeply personal sanctuary. At eighteen, Anna stepped away from Ohana, the family cabana, to carve out her own space on a neighboring sand dune. Using driftwood offered up by the ocean and woven palm leaves gathered from the surrounding island, a simple grass bedroom and eventually a yoga shala were formed. An immersive space with the soundtrack of the Indian Ocean became her sanctuary, rooted in the natural elements of the island, away from the noise of the world.

This early, intuitive reverence for nature's grounding power sparked a lifelong pursuit. Anna went on to study Neuroscience at university, captivated by the intricate and undeniable connection between the mind and body. This scientific foundation naturally expanded, guiding her deeper into holistic health practices. She understood that true wellbeing requires more than just a movement; it requires a profound, neurosomatic alignment with ourselves and our environment. It requires a space where the nervous system can finally exhale and open up to receiving guidance into life-saving daily practices, a place where people can really shift the needle on their health and priorities.

Today, the wellness offerings at The Cabanas Lamu are a direct extension of that very first driftwood shala. We invite you to experience a holistic approach to healing that honors both ancient practices and modern understanding.

Anna has studied neuroscience, nutrition, meditation, and Ayurveda and is an RYT500 advanced Yoga Teacher. She loves to host visiting practitioners throughout the year to share their different healing therapies from around the world. Her own practice is The Neuro-Somatic Architect
